This term refers to those matters arising within a state on which it has no international legal obligations, and over which the state is therefore entitled to exercise an exclusive jurisdiction. By the same token, foreign states should not try to influence the handling of such matters. Of course, much controversy may arise over whether any particular issue in fact falls within a state\'s domestic jurisdiction. See also human rights; intervention. |
