The ‘Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation’, i.e. a foreign ministry agency devoted to providing the members of the Moscow diplomatic corps with day-to-day living, travel, and recreational requirements. It also publishes a monthly journal called Diplomat. Assisting with the provision of service staff to embassies, at least during the Cold War the UpDK was in effect a branch of the KGB, designed to assist its surveillance and control of foreign diplomatic activity. |
