A term applied to the style of public exchanges in the early 1980s between the Soviet Union on the one hand and the United States and the United Kingdom on the other. The low-point of all this was probably President Reagan\'s speech before the British House of Commons in June 1982 which referred to the Soviet Union as an ‘Evil Empire’.
