The temporary or permanent withdrawal of a diplomatic mission. The latter eventuality, it should be noted, does not necessarily entail the breach of diplomatic relations (sense 1).
The temporary or permanent recall of a head of mission. A temporary withdrawal often indicates the sending state\'s displeasure with some act of the receiving state. A permanent recall generally indicates that the head of mission\'s tour of duty is being brought to a normal end. See also letters of recall. |
