service staff

The domestic service of a diplomatic mission: drivers, cooks, gardeners and cleaners, for example. Traditionally, they only enjoyed immunity from the jurisdiction of the receiving state if that state had specifically granted it. But under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, such staff enjoy immunity in respect of their official acts, provided they are not nationals of or permanently resident in the receiving state.
