A right of an absolute character which one state enjoys in the territory of another. Such rights exist not infrequently - such as those relating to military bases, tracking stations, and pipelines. But as the term ‘servitude’ has semantic and historical connotations of a large power imbalance between the two states concerned, it has fallen out of favour. See also capitulations. |
