A senior official who is responsible, in collaboration with counterparts from other states, for preparing the ground for a summit. In the case of Group of Eight summits, this work includes drafting the final communiqué as well as agreeing the agenda, and is supported by separate meetings between ‘sous-sherpas’ (one specialist in foreign affairs and one in finance under each sherpa) and political directors from foreign ministries. |
