single negotiating text

A technique employed in multilateral diplomacy by a ‘coordinator’ or by a mediator in proximity talks. Following consultation with each of the parties, a single text is drawn up and submitted to them for consideration. The text is then amended in light of this second round of consultations and re-submitted. The process is repeated as many times as needed to reach agreement.
