When units of a state\'s armed forces are stationed abroad on non-combatant duty, as at a foreign military base, or when the UN establishes a peacekeeping force, it is highly desirable that the legal position of such forces should be clearly established. This may be done through the conclusion of a status of forces agreement between the host state and the sending state or organization. |
