The process whereby a state, in respect of one of its diplomatic agents or consular officers, sets aside the right of diplomatic or consular immunity which is normally enjoyed by the individual in question. This is not a frequent occurrence, and is only done after careful consideration. However, in recent years waiver appears to have been sought by a receiving state rather more strongly than hitherto, often with success. |
